Coffee Talk Aug 21st 2018
Spudguns! We're 71 days till Hallowe'en, and how does that make you feel today? I feel groovy about it.
Okay, so I haven't really done one of these in awhile, but the movies I'm looking forward to seeing in the next few months are The Happytime Murders, Venom, Goosebumps 2, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Robin Hood.
Last week I mentioned I had watched a couple of movies on Netflix Canada and just didn't like them at all. Which is why I decided not to review them. I went back and flipped through them again, and...yeah I still can't find anything nice to say about them. The Babysitter (2017) and Wild Oats (2016) I know these two films got a lot of positive from fans, but I just didn't care for them at all. At lest I made it through those two, where as I didn't even get fifteen minutes into Father of the Year (2018) before turning it off.
When I started this blog and the movie challenge, one major rule was finishing the movie no matter what. Which was fine for the first year of the blog when I was actually doing the 'One Movie A Day Challenge' the first time around. Now that I'm just back to watching movies for the simple love of movies, I find my tastes have really changed.
Okay guys, that's about it for today. I'll be back on the weekend with the next installment of the serials. (Sunday Aug 26th 2018)

Coffee Talk April 21st 2018
Spudguns! How's it where you are right now? Spiffy.
I have to admit, I'm actually looking forward to a few of the coming attractions for the next few months. Hotel Transylvania 3, being at the top of the list for me. Ocean's Eight, Life of the Party, Book Club, Deadpool 2, Star Wars Solo, and Tully, all have caught my attention.
I'm working on next month's theme at the moment, which I'm sure most of you have already figured out what it is, as it ties in with my hosting Foodn'Flix next month. And as always, I'll have the official announcement for that on May 1st.
Honestly, I didn't have a whole lot to write about today, just thought we needed something to buffer between the stories, as that's all I've been writing on here the last few months.

Coffee Talk June 4th 2015
Spudguns! So, as we by now know, the cult classic The Craft is getting a remake.
It seems to be a solid split down the middle with people on if this is a good thing or not? A lot of those in my generation feel it doesn't need it at all, and the younger fans seem to think it's the most brilliant thing since sliced bread.
Here's my take on things. Are you ready for this, cause it's important, earth shattering even.
It depends on how they handle it.
Truly earth shattering for you right? I mean, I have such depth and insight to the whole thing. Seriously, I can see it being a good thing and I can see it being a bad thing.
The pros of doing this remake: if they get more in depth with the whole witchcraft element. Dive into Vodun, Santeria, Shamanism, Hoodoo, and really get with the reality of it.
Which brings me to the cons of doing this remake: if they water it down. If they decide to make it Charmed-lite, with the whole spotlight on Wicca's commercial side. You know why everyone loves the character of Nancy? Because she's not afraid to do what needs to be done. Where as the character of Sarah is just too...nice.
If they decide to get a bit more Witches of East End, or Constantine with the script, then it could be good. That is if they cast it right.
That's another thing. If they cast name brands for the sake of it, then it will be an epic fail. I think casting no-name brands in the leads would be better. I also think it would have been an even better plan to have had it of more a sequel with the original four twenty years later, to see what their lives turned into after the events of the first film.
The main themes of bullying, class, gossip, trust, loneliness, guilt. All the original elements need to still be there. If any of those subplots or themes are removed, the film just won't work.
It will be interesting to see how they bring technology into the storylines? The original was done before the internet/cellphones/ ruled the world. Will this distract from the main themes or strengthen them?

Coffee Talk June 2nd 2015
Spudguns! It's 7:30 am EST here, just got up, and thought I would post the monthly shout out for the Food n Flix. This month is be hosted by Cheap Ethnic Eatz and they have picked the movie Butter.
That's kinda all I had to say this morning...there is one more Jane Austen adaption left to do later this month.
Okay, so I finally saw the teaser trailer for Hotel Transylvania 2 which is scheduled for Sept 25th release, and you know I totally can't wait for that. I know it's a cartoon but its a vampire cartoon so deal. Which is why I thought now would be an excellent time of year to have a vampire theme week on the blog. Cause why wait for October when you can vamp out now?

Monday Dec 29th 2014
It's 8:23am here, sitting at a -24C with a windchill of -37C, the sun not yet up and my upstairs neighbour already drunkenly singing old Black Sabbath songs.
So, I thought since I'm up, I'd come in and do a short post.
Okay, so my Spudguns! if you remember beginning of the month I was uber hyped going on about the all Jane Austen Book Club and how I had this big blogging plan to incorporate the movie versions to match the book we were reading. And you might have noticed I ended up not doing those posts. That's because book club fell apart at the seems. I have to learn not to mention things till they happen cause I always seem to curse myself. So it left me just blah and the last thing I wanted to do was sit through hours of JAthemed films. It's still a spiffy blogging idea, and I'm thinking of doing it anyways in the course of 2015. Just not this week. This week the idea is leaving me ggrrr-argghh feeling.
Year four has really been struggling to find it's identity. I'm hoping some structured randomness will bring about something great, spiffy even.
8:43am- had to pause to make coffee.
Couple of movies I'm looking forward to in the coming year are Mortdecai starring Johnny Depp, Furious 7 starring Vin Diesel, The Avengers 2 Age of Ultron starring Robert Downey Jr., Hotel Transylvania 2 starring Adam Sandler, and Frankenstein starring Daniel Radcliffe.
I'm not even going to pretend that the cartoon vampire film Hotel Transylvania isn't the big hyper for me. Cause, vampires make me happy. That's sad isn't it, when Johnny Depp comes in second to a cartoon vamp.

Dec 1st 2013
Two days from now it will be the 2year mark for this blog. The original intention was to was 365 different movies in a year. One a day, and blog about it. (That was a success for all of 2012)
The past year, was split up. It was suppose to have been a year of vampire movies and tv shows. But I started watching a few other genres with it, which is why I started what was suppose to be a six part story to be like a creative way to point out the other non-vampire movies. But, I had more fun writing the story and it became the serial on this blog. (went past six parts in a week)
In the last 2 years, I've seen over 400 different movies.
I mentioned the other week that I had hoped to have the serial finished before Dec 3rd 2013, so that I could start year 3 back with one movie a day again.
There's just no way the serial will be done in 48 hours. So, I'm going to overlap.
Dec 3rd, I am starting Year 3 - One different movie a day for the year- no matter what! And until the serial is truly finished, I'm going to continue with it. The overlap will come in the serial still reading "2013, Year 2" while the one movie a day will read "2013, 2014, Year 3"
Confused yet? Dude, I confused myself typing it.
Bottom line, a very busy blog with something every day.

Over a coffee Nov 22nd
Few days ago, on another blog for another random topic, I threw my thoughts out there as to what the next big thing will be movie wise for 2013.
I'm thinking in lines of the websites like GetGlue, that promote movies, and the magazines who's main income are the interviews and photo spreads of movie stars now that Twilight is over, what are they going to promote?
My thoughts, Star Trek Into Darkness. aka Star Trek the reboot episode 2 which is at this point slated for a May 17th 2013 release.
From Vampires and Werewolves to Vulcans and Klingons... seems like a natural transition.
