This is based on the novel.
A classic on so many levels, and the movie that launched the careers of all the cast members. ( Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez, Tom Cruise, Diane Lane )
I've heard others complain about how it really doesn't go anywhere and it's a slow pace. But I always found that part of it's charm.
It's a film about the hopelessness the kids feel from their social status in the 1960's, and the truthful emotions they feel. Everything from disgust, fear, boredom, to low self esteem and even embarrassment for their coming from the poor side of town.
what do i think i learned from this film?
You have to always believe in yourself, no matter what. Always trust that you can be who you want to be, and not to let the limitations of your current situation get in the way of your dreams.
