Starring: Kenny Wormald, Dennis Quaid
Genre: Music, Drama
Year: 2011
Format: Shaw Video On Demand
Plot: After the death of his mother, Ren goes to live with his uncle's family in a small town. His biggest issue becomes his greatest goal, to be able to dance in town.
This is as far as remakes go, better then most. The casting of Kenny Wormald as the Kevin Bacon character of Ren was pure genius.
It keeps fairly close to the original script, with just a few minor adjustments that don't really add or subtract from it.
My biggest complaint for film is the soundtrack. As someone who grew up with in the 80's when the original was first released, the soundtrack was the biggest key to the film. This remake has taken almost all the original songs from the 1984 version and butchered them.

It's still cool to dance your ass off.
