movie: Georgia Rule
starring: Jane Fonda, Lindsay Lohan
genre: Drama, Comedy, Romance
year: 2007
format: TV EDIT
plot: A young woman is sent to live with her grandmother the last summer before college because her mother feels shes out of control. What the grandmother learns, is that she's been abused by her step father.
This movie started off with some promise, but got tangled up in itself about a half hour in.
The three generations of women in this film all have a crutch, the grandmother's character leans on her religion, the mother on drinking, and the daughter on sex. None of whom actually deal with their real issues, not even in the end.
The two potential love interests for the Lohan character both use sex as a tool of avoidance by doing just that, avoiding sex both for different reasons.
Again, the version I saw was a TV edit, so I have no idea if the themes were completely the direction originally intended.
what do i think i learned from this film?
In every lie there is a spark of truth.
