The Nosferatu Adventures
page 48, chapter 48
The Seer stood in the middle of the greenhouse, a strange glowing bubble in front of him with what seemed like a book trapped inside. Raising his right hand as if he were flipping a page, the page in the book flipped.
"What are you doing?" Dagan asked. The Seer jumped, the bubble bursting and the book that had been inside shimmering then fading away. Letting out a deep sigh, the Seer rubbed his face.
"Don't do that!"
"You're a werewolf, you heard me, you smelled me come in." Dagan said as he wandered around the greenhouse, touching everything he could.
"I was concentrating on the spell. Wasn't paying attention." he said as he spun around with his hand out.
"So you going to answer my question?" Dagan dipped his hands into a birdbath then splashed the cold water over his hair slicking it back.
"Just researching something which I needed my books for which obviously I don't have with me." his gaze followed the other werewolf, not sure how much to tell him.
"Anyways, we need to get a move on. Any idea where our little pain in the ass is? I haven't been able to find her." he held up a hand squinting. "And before you get all smartass with me, I lost her scent. I've been all over the castle, the gardens, the outside limits of the property, nothing. I figured with you being the visionary you'd be able to see her. So pull up another of those migraine induced visions of yours and lets go." he leaned on the edge of a large potting box filled with violets.
"Last I saw her, in the flesh or otherwise, was the kitchen." he pointed at the general direction of the castle.
"That was hours ago." Dagan snapped his fingers getting impatient. "Come on, go go go! Do whatever it is that you need to to get a vision. I'll help you." he took a step towards him then back a half step his hands in the air. "Less it's a hands on approach in which case you're on your own."
"I can't control the visions." he pointed at the taller man. "But now that you've mentioned it, I need to hunt."
Meanwhile...
Rolf stood in front of the painting that now covered the wall of the cabin, his arms crossed over his chest. "What do you think it means? This new obsession he seems to have with Nosferatu?"
Reuben shrugged letting out a deep breath as he sat on the back of the sofa, his face in his hands, his elbows on his knees. "She mentioned seeing the King in his astral form a few times." he shrugged. "They must be connected somehow?" he flopped backward over the edge of the sofa, hanging on by the shear strength of his knees. Pulling himself back up, he stood on the sofa, then crossed to the painting. "He didn't transform till after he'd done the painting, after he went into that trance-rage. And he hasn't transformed back to human yet. Do you think he's stuck?"
"So what? Nosferatu triggered something in him?" Rolf asked. The larger man started to walk in a circle his head down, hair everywhere while he thought about it. "But he's been possessing you for a while, before Nosferatu showed up." he shook his head as he continued to pace. "Na, we're missing something here, something we're not seeing." He stopped pacing, his eyebrows knitted together in concentration. "The Seer." he let his hand slap his thigh as he closed his eyes. "Damn it!" Rolf crossed the room to the front door screaming for Ash who had gone hunting. Flicking his hair out of his face, Rolf turned to face his buddy. "The Seer was the only one who looked after the King."
"Right." Reuben said nodding.
"The Seer knew about Nosferatu possibly before we did."
"Okay, and?"
Rolf continued, "If the Seer had a vision of her while he was in the King's chambers, and the King was in astral form say either coming back from one of his possessions or about to possess you, he might have been caught up in the vision." The large man's voice fell to a low whisper then rose as he smiled at his buddy his eyes wide. (get ready for the one flashback link)
"Now you're sounding like her." Reuben commented laughing.
"I had a good TEACHER."
