Movie: Jane Austen Book Club
Starring: Mario Bello, Emily Blunt,
Genre: Drama, Romance,
Plot: Six people come together to form a book club that reads only the six novels by Jane Austen, each hosting a night at their house. Over the course of half a year, their lives mix and some find their relationships have strengthened while others have crumbled.
Each character is based on a heroine/hero in one of the Jane Austen novels - Mansfield Park, Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Northanger Abby, Persuasion, Sense and Sensibility- and their story is a parallel to the novel they are hosting.
This is based on a book itself, which if you've never read a Jane Austen novel or seen any of the Jane Austen adaptations; is an excellent way to be introduced to her works.
What do I think I learned from this film?
Never underestimate the power of a well written letter. And always ask yourself "what would Jane do?"
