movie: Two Weeks Notice
starring: Sandra Bullock, Hugh Grant
genre: Comedy, Romance
year:2002
format: TV edit
plot: a free spirited lawyer, agrees to go work for one of the biggest companies she hates, in order to keep a building from being torn down. After a year of working 24/7 for her self centered boss, she quits, but agrees to train her replacement.
The duo of Bullock and Grant are like a throwback to the romantic comedies of the 1940/1950s. I wish they had done more together.
I think I find myself saying this most the time lately, but it's a buddy movie to a degree more then even a romance. The two leads make you forget your watching a fictional story, there are just moments of such pureness to them (like when they are eating off each other's plates)
It's a sweet movie, with a few sub-themes happening, like the idea of not knowing what you have got till it's gone, and how friendships really are the baseline for any long term partnership (romance or business) and standing up for what you believe in. (she stands up to him about the building, and in time, he stands up to his over-baring brother because he refuses to break his promise to her)
