The Nosferatu Adventures
page 116, chapter 116
Rolf leaned against the wall, his eyes closed, forehead against the smooth surface. He didn't want to face another day of this. His hand instinctively went to his chest, the large scar that ran from his right shoulder to left hip just would not heal. Ares made sure of that. Weeks, this had been going on. Every night he was ripped from his room, beaten, tortured, experimented on, then returned at dawn where he was treated like a king.
The familiar brush of a wet nose at his knee made the large male open his eyes. Of course, he got left with the dog. Rolf had no idea why he'd been spared, if you want to call it that, on the ship. Just woke to find himself in this prison. The room didn't appear to be at first glance, with the oversized bed, velvet curtains, the wine, the food that never seemed to end. But that's what this place was, a prison. The werewolf had tried to escape more then a few times, each time Ares found him before he could get out. But last time, when he gave him this un-healing wound, the werewolf had made it to the gate before being captured. The building was like a maze, with nothing but carvings on the doors to mark them. Too bad they were all marked with the same thing. A tree. Each door had a tree carved into it.
The werewolf stiffened as he heard someone approaching his chamber. Tombstone whimpered, then growled as he circled the large male, half afraid half protecting him. It was the blonde again. Sniffing Rolf spat telling Tombstone to sit quiet. The creature did as he was told, waiting. Rolf moved just a foot and spat on the marble floor again, marking his territory. The blonde smiled as she entered the room, a larger then usual tray in hand. She was shaking as she placed it on the dresser. The male gave a low growl causing her to jump running for the door.
"Is there anything you...need?" her voice seductive.
Rolf raised an eyebrow flicking his hair out of his face, saying nothing as he stood waiting for her to leave. The siren stood for a few long seconds before turning towards the door. He learned quickly that the sirens wouldn't actually come near enough to touch him, they were scared of him.
"Tell Ares the next time he sends you or your sisters into this room, you won't be of use to him or anyone else when I'm finished with you, because you won't be recognizable as women." he sniffed again advancing a step, watching the blonde nearly run down the hall. Shaking his head, the werewolf let out a deep sigh, examining the tray of food. Everything smelled fine, but it wouldn't take much to poison or drug something. He gave the bacon and eggs to the dog, taking the fruit himself, examing the apples for needle marks and sniffing them for any traces of poison. Same with the oranges and nectarines. "I know so unnatural a vegan werewolf." he spoke to Tombstone. "But better safe then dead." the beast snorted as if he understood, then stopped eating, bolting for the door. He growled, barking, ready to pounce.
A guard was standing there looking panicked. "You need to come with me now."
"Na I don't think so." Rolf crossed his arms over his massive chest taking a stance.
"There's someone who is demanding to see you. And I don't think you should refuse." Tombstone licked his chops determined to follow the werewolf as he was led down one of the hallways towards one of the thousand doors with the tree symbol.
Stepping into the room, Rolf was taken aback to see Loki standing there.
"Playtime's over. I need you to do something for me." Tombstone ran towards Loki, tail wagging. Rolf whistled, the dog quickly returning to his side. "I'm surprised and happy to see you looking after him. You've made him soft though. He's suppose to be a protector."
"He has been." Rolf nodded towards the creature. "He's been my food tester."
