movie: 28 Days

plot: After ruining her sister's wedding because she was drunk, a woman finds herself in rehab. Refusing at first to follow the rules, she ends up with a broken foot after climbing out a window for a bottle of pills, this forces her to take a honest look at things.
This wasn't a bad film, wasn't a great one either. It's a serious topic that plays it straight up till the last few minutes, then seemed to go for the comedy, which I felt took away from the point of the film.
We see many of the characters in the rehab center fail, which of course makes the main character try all that much harder to beat her own addiction.
The end scene that goes for the comedy, points out one of the characters trying to rush the final steps of recovery, by buying both a plant and a dog to prove they are ready for relationships, but has to admit he couldn't keep the plant alive. Proving he's just not ready yet for major responsibility.
After the credits, there was a short scene that shows a celebrity from a soap opera that the group watches, come to the same rehab center, showing that no one is above the pitfalls of life.
The soap opera the group watches becomes the glue that brings them all together, and is also a sort of new addiction for one of the main characters.
What did I learn? Don't kill the plants.
