movie: Open Range
starring: Kevin Costner, Robert Duvall
genre: Western
year:2003
format: TV edit
plot: a group of open range cattlemen seek justice for one of their men who was killed in a small town. They soon find themselves up against the corrupt locals. The sheriff wants their cattle for himself, and is willing to resort to any means necessary.
I was more interested in the supporting cast, (Kim Coates, Ian Tracey, Julian Richings) then anything else. I found this film to be a bit on the dry side, without much going on till the last fifteen minutes.
I understand having to build the foundations for the characters and why they interact, but what normally would be an introduction to the film seemed to go until the midway mark.
Which works great for books but not so much for movies.
The characters also didn't seem to have much character to them. Half of them could have been replaced by cardboard cutouts and no one would have noticed the difference.
